The beautiful view as we drove off the mountain to go home.

Deer hunter, waste not your arrow on the hare. Chinese Proverb

I can not believe how close we got to the deer. I was just about to reach out and touch the deer when Cassie reminded me that Santa had been killed by a deer (see previous post regarding Cassieims).

I explained to Cassie that this was not a reindeer...but she then went on to explain that they had razor sharp feet and that there are over 1.5 million accidents involving deer every year, there are over 100 species in the world, deer have a great sense of hearing, deers eyes are on the sides of their heads, the life expectancy of a deer is 20 years....

Needless to say the deer ran off...I never got to pet it...and Cassie is one day going to be one heck of an CIA agent.

Putt Putt Golf Tourney

Two things are always a constant in this house...we turn everything into a competition / tournament...and I am never in the pictures because I am taking them. When I win the lottery (see I said when , not if) I am going to hire someone to go with us who can just take pictures.

Pedal Boats and Canoes

We had a long discussion while getting the kids into life jackets about pedal versus paddle boats....FYI it is pedal...I win!

A morning of trail riding.

Yes Kristi my ass hurt when we were done (just saved you an email girlie LOL)...can you say ass on a blog? Cause when it hurts as bad as mine did "fannie" just doesn't cut it.

It pays to be slow.

In true tribe form there was much discussion about what room the boys were going to get and what room the girls were going to get...lord help us if we somehow manage to make a trip without barganing.

While Hondo and the boys were unloading the cars my lovely daughters/roomates for the week snatched the keys and ran up to claim thier room. Not sure what in the "BLEEP" they were thinking!

Our (the girls) room overlooked the service entrance to the resort....while the boys had the scenic veiw.

Above are pictures of Hondo and the boys view the very first morning we got up.

Have I told you how much I LOVVVVE girls (teeth clenched and rolling of the eyes). But hey they got to the rooms first...that has to count for something right?

Oh no you didn't

Drive to Pipestem State Park - 12 hours
Meals eaten out- 20 times 8 = 160
Number of people in each hotel room - 4
Times we were asked are we there yet? - 782983749
How many deer we saw on the trails - 62
How many fish were caught - 0
Cost to ride down the tram - $0
Cost to ride back up - $34.00 (okay they had us on this one, we had to get up)

Seeing your middle child pose with a leaf covering his private parts, while yelling "Hey Mom look at me" - PRICELESS

To get to the bottom of the basin you had to drop 1500 feet on a tram. To the girls and I it was a mini roller coaster. To Nick, who is terrified of heights, it was a death sentence.

I guess the sign (shown above) that was posted in the tram did not help.

When we made the offer to ride it down, later in our trip, so that the kids could fish...the answer was not no, but heck no.

He is sooooo not my son. This one I am going to blame on his father's genetics.

Shesh!

THIS IS NOT WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE!!!!!!! Remember when you were a kid and you would lay on your back and put your hand under your knee...pump your leg real hard and make a farting noise...annoying parents the world over? (What don't tell me that you did not do that!)

This is my kids equivalent of a knee fart. They take thier arm and bend it at the elbow then put the camera up close and take a picture so that it looks like a butt crack.

I have not downloaded pictures in the last 6 months that the "butt" hasn't been there. This trip was no exception.

I swear one day I am going to get Noel's camera...drop my pants to my ankles...and take a picture of what God gave me. That will teach the little buggers!

Skipping Rock Contest on The River

It may never be easy but it will always be worth it.

This is the veiw as we drove into Pipestem and walked down into the basin. The landscape was brilliant and the kids had the best time seeing who could climb onto the highest rock.

Mini Belle

Tom's family has a traditional golf tournament at Mini Belle ...a local 9 hole golf course. Being that I am a golfer now I was able to participate...and I actually had a few good shots!

You can tell who won because they are holding the rolling pin trophy...Grandma's team came in 2ND place and I am sorry to say that our team came in last. Now a little birdie told me that they actually padded their scores...and we would have come in 2ND by 1 stroke (CHEATERS)...but considering that she is a newly wed I will give her this one.

It may never be easy but it will always be worth it.

Dennis's 70 Birthday.

The day after the wedding was Dennis and his twin brother Donnie's 70 birthday. They rented out the Dupont Employee Recreation Area and invited 100 of their closest friends and family.

Besides the fact that everyone was a smidge hungover we had a great time.

It may never be easy but it will always be worth it.
